Shortly, after the ribbon cutting ceremony and opening of exhibits at the Visayas State University (VSU) Parade Ground, creative and colorful dance presentations that was dubbed as the Kaugmaran FIESTA, took place on November 22-23, 2018.
VSU Alang-Alang Campus won the first place with a cash prize of ₱40,000.
The dances were inspired by farmers’ hard work and resilience coupled with their faith in the Almighty for a congenial environment and bountiful harvest.
Students from VSU’s satellite campuses and employees from the Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center 8 joined the competition.
The dances also showed the importance of queen pineapple as an agricultural crop and its importance in alleviating the economic life of many farmers in Eastern Visayas.
The dance presentation was part of the Farms and Industry Encounters through the Science and Technology Agenda (FIESTA) on Queen Pineapple that was held on November 22-23, 2018. The event was organized by the Visayas Consortium for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Program (ViCAARP).
