The Technology Application and Promotion Institute of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-TAPI) in collaboration with the DOST Regional Offices (RO) is set to conduct the 2019 Regional Invention Contest and Exhibits (RICE) all over the country.
RICE recognizes the indispensability of local inventors and innovators as contributors for national economic development by providing them encouragement through forms of cash rewards, certificates, plaques, and bragging rights.
2019 RICE focuses on inventions and innovations for sustainable development
This year’s theme, “Science for the People: Inventions and Innovations for Sustainable Development,” coincides with this year’s National Science and Technology Week (NSTW) which focuses on the attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).
Inventors may qualify in five categories, such as the Tuklas Award for the most outstanding invention, Outstanding Utility Model, Outstanding Industrial Design, Likha Award for the most outstanding research and development (R&D) of a technology, and Sibol Award for the most creative research in high school and college levels.
The 2019 RICE will start on 12 June 2019 in Region VII. Here is the complete schedule of the 2019 RICE:
Winners from each category will qualify as finalists for the National Invention Contest and Exhibits (NICE) in 2020.
