When it rains it pours and president of the Filipino Inventors Society Producer Cooperative (FISPC) Francisco “Popoy” Pagayon got the surprise of his life when he received three recognitions on his birth week.

Pagayon celebrated his 74th birthday on Aug. 27 but three days before that, FISPC, along with its supporters, conducted its 4th Community Outreach Program in Sitio Suha, Norzagaray. Bulacan, with the Dumagat tribe as beneficiaries of the project headed by the birthday celebrator.

As Region 2 celebrated the Regional Science and Technology Week (RSTW) of the Dept. of Science and Technology (DOST) from August 26-29, Pagayon was conferred the Best Inventor Award at the ceremony held at the Cagayan State University (CSU). R2 Director, Engr. Sancho Mabborang presented the recognition along with other DOST Region 2 officials.

He also received a Plaque of Appreciation Award as one of the judges in Region 2’s Regional Invention Contest and Exhibit (RICE) and another plaque for recognizing his effort as one of the guests in the celebration of the once-in-every-two-years regional event of DOST.

The award of appreciation was presented by Technology Application and Promotion Institute (TAPI) Director Edgar I. Garcia and Engr. Mabborang.

Meanwhile, the plaque of recognition was presented by CSU president Jay Urduja, who also hosted a birthday celebration for Pagayon on the same day at the CSU gym.

Pagayon has been in the limelight as active supporter of DOST’s science and technology programs. He is also a staunch advocate of fellow inventors, whose products he wants to promote commercially globally. – Janet Rebusio-Ducayag
