Philippine National Police deputy chief for administration, Lt. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar has called on police personnel to always behave in a professional and dignified manner when on duty or during inspections, to avoid shaming.
In a Laging Handa public briefing, Eleazar said his reminder is now being carried out by various police commanders on the ground.
Eleazar’s call came after PNP chief, Gen. Camilo Cascolan, said he will not allow public shaming of police personnel caught sleeping on duty during inspections, a practice done by former PNP chief Oscar Albayalde.
While he supports Cascolan’s move, Eleazar said this does not mean condoning their misdemeanors.
“For some who are not doing the right thing, the PNP leadership will not let that slip. But if you continue doing that and you are repeatedly being reprimanded, then I think you should be shamed,” Eleazar said.
