For everybody’s interest, Filipinos must respect the closure of cemeteries starting November 29 up to November 4.
In his Facebook post, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno has reminded the public that visiting cemeteries and columbariums in the city will not be allowed.
The temporary closure is based on the earlier decision of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID).
The IATF-EID ordered the closure of all private and public cemeteries, memorial parks and columbariums across the country to prevent people from congregating in these areas, to mitigate infection by the Covid-19 virus.
The Philippine National Police has announced it will detail policemen to guard and monitor all cemeteries during the period.
For our own good, and for the peace of our departed loved ones who may prefer to have us remain alive, let us all respect the temporary closure.
Cemeteries and columbariums will be reopened on November 5 and people will be allowed inside but subject still to defined health protocols.
