PCG to fishermen: Don’t unduly risk your lives
SAN FRANCISCO, Quezon — The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has reminded Pinoy fishermen not to unduly risk their lives by venturing out into the sea during a typhoon.
The PCG issued the reminder after seven fishermen from San Jose de Buenavista in Antique were blown away by Typhoon Quinta from their local fishing ground until they found refuge in San Francisco town in Quezon province where they remain stranded.
The PCG in Antique said the seven went fishing despite the advisory they issues a few days days before Quinta struck. Due to inclement weather, the fishermen’s boat was battered by huge waves that caused their boat to sail farther until it reached Quezon province.
The seven fishermen are still in Barangay Pagsangahan of the said town in Southern Luzon and are being cared for by former San Francisco Mayor Joselito Alega, a friend of San Jose de Buenavista Mayor Elmer Untaran who was able to contact him.
Joselito Alega is the husband of incumbent San Francisco Mayor Elvira Alega. He assured Untaran he will take care of the seven fishermen until they could return home.
