CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – Police personnel in Central Luzon received on Monday badly needed protection gears against Covid-19 virus.
The Public Safety Savings and Loan Association Inc. (PSSLAI) donated more than P1-million worth of face masks and other personal protective equipment (PPE) to the police personnel in the region who are on the frontlines to protect the public against the “unseen enemy”.
Retired Major Gen. Lucas Managuelod, chairman and chief executive officer of PSSLAI, personally handed over to Police Regional Office-3 (PRO-3) director Brig. Gen. Valeriano T. De Leon some 55,556 pieces of N95 face masks and PPE at Camp Olivas here.
Managuelod said the donation “is one more demonstration of our commitment to work together with the PNP to overcome the Covid-19 global pandemic and builds on our long tradition of outstanding cooperation with the police”.
De Leon, for his part, said the donation is in recognition of the exemplary efforts of police officers who are doing their tasks to ensure the public’s safety during this health pandemic.
“The donation constitutes an active recognition of the continuing efforts made by our personnel during this difficult time which has been caused by the Covid-19 pandemic,” he said.
De Leon added that the donated masks and PPE will certainly go a long way in protecting the police force while battling the Covid-19.
Based on the report of the PNP-PRO3 Health Service 3 as of Monday, there is a total of 421 police personnel in the region who got infected with the dreaded disease.
Out of the total figure, 371 have already recovered, bringing the total number of active cases to 50. (PNA)
