X’mas caroling ban to prevent Covid-19 spread

Filipinos should heed the Department of Health’s (DOH) advice to avoid doing Christmas caroling this year to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 virus.

DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said there is a study that suggests loud singing could increase Covid-19 infections.
“An infected person can yield the most virus by singing loudly,” she said in a radio interview.

Vergeries said the decision on the possible caroling ban, however,  would still be up to the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID).

Earlier, DILG Secretary Eduardo Año said he will also propose to the IATF-EID yo ban yuletide caroling this year.

The DOH has released public health guidelines on holiday celebrations this year which limit the number of attendees in gatherings in line with the physical distancing protocol.
