Tanay hosts Microhydropower project

TANAY, Rizal – A microhydropwer project that could produce 15 to 20 kilowatts of electricity the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) will shortly set up in Barangay Cayabu here will benefit a sector of the village where indigenous tribal folks reside.

The project could showcase a modest technology initiative that can propel remote communities to meaningful progress.
DOST-Calabarzon Director Alexander Madrigal said their agency is currently in talks with the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples since native tribal folks would be be made in-charge the project’s management to benefit themselves.

Madrigal said the Tanay local government will overseen the project’s operation.
