Calabarzon’s top fugitive killed in police operation in Albay town

LEGAZPI CITY – The Philippine National Police (PNP) provincial office here said the most wanted person in Region 4-A (Calabarzon) was killed in a shootout with policemen in Daraga town Saturday night.

Albay PNP spokesman, PCapt. Dexter Panganiban, identified the fugitive victim as Rodel Llorera, 42, tagged as Southern Tagalog’s most wanted person. He reportedly resisted arrest by joint police and military operatives who were about to serve him a warrant of arrest at a residence in San Ramon, a remote village of Daraga.

The operatives collared two others during the raid — Felimon Madridano, 33, a construction worker and Honeybee Boneo, 33, both local residents.

A police report said Llorera was was being served the arrest warrant, but the suspect drew his .45-caliber handgun and reached for a hand grenade, which led to a shootout. He sustained instantly died from multiple gunshot wounds.

The Police said the recovered a .45- caliber pistol with seven bullets, a grenade, and personal belongings from the crime scene. Madridano snd Boneo were arrested for harboring a criminal, knowing that the suspect was a wanted person.

In a related devekopment, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) office here incinerated (burned) at least P286 million worth of illegal drugs, seized in separate drug stings in Bicol were incinerated (burned) Sunday in Camalig town here.

PDEA-Bicol spokesperson, Cotton Talento, said 42 kilos of shabu and nine kilos of marijuana were burned at the incinerator facility of the Goodfound Cement Corporation  in Barangay Palanog here.

Talento said the burning of the seized illegal drugs was in compliance with a recent PDEA directive to destroy all  seized illegal drugs that had been approved by the court for destruction because the cases have been resolved.
