DOH reports over 9K new Covid-19 recoveries


The Department of Health (DOH) reported 9,269 new Covid-19 recoveries Sunday, raising the total number of recovered cases to 418,687.

The DOH, in its latest bulletin, said 93.2% of those who tested positive for the Covid-19 virus infection have so far recovered. It also logged 1,085 new confirmed cases and three new deaths on Sunday which brought the overall tally of active cases to 21,980 and the death toll to 8,733.

Of the active cases, the DOH bulletin said about 84.4%  are mild, 5.8% are asymptomatic, 3.2% are severe, 0.33%  are moderate, and 6.3% are in critical condition.

Quezon City logged the most number of new cases with 103 infections followed by Rizal with 46, Makati with 44, Manila with 43, and Pasig City with 39.

Meanwhile, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) reported that 433 more overseas Filipinos survived the Covid-19 scourge, raising the total number of recoveries to 7,997 as of December 12.

The death toll, however, climbed to 860 after 12 deaths were logged in the Asia Pacific, one in Europe, and one in the Americas.

To date, there are 3,443 active cases of Covid-19 abroad. At least 745 are undergoing treatment in the Asia Pacific, 309 in Europe, 2,330 in the Middle East/Africa, and 59 in the Americas.

The Middle East/Africa still has the highest number of active cases at 4,664 and fatalities at 553. Of the total fatalities, 189 were from the Americas, 97 from Europe, and 21 from the Asia Pacific.
